Fence Installation, Replacement & Repair in DFW & North Texas

Aubrey-based Longhorn Construction Co. provides Residential and Commercial fence installation, replacement and repair in DFW and North Texas, throughout Texas and with nationwide project capability. Define your scope, compare your options and request a free fence estimate. Longhorn is available 24/7.

Repair the Fence or Replace It?

A damaged gate, post or fence section does not automatically require complete replacement. Partial repair or replacement may be appropriate when the surrounding structure can support it.

Evaluate posts, rails, surrounding fence condition, material compatibility, damage or deterioration, gate loads, site conditions and intended use. Widespread deterioration or unstable supporting components may warrant broader replacement; a fixed fence-age rule does not decide the scope.

Choose the Fence Around the Property and Purpose

Wood and Privacy Fencing

Choose around privacy, appearance, maintenance, site conditions, budget and HOA or property requirements. Longhorn offers cedar fencing and selected whitewood or pressure-treated components, with construction defined for the project.

Wood styles include side-by-side, board-on-board, horizontal, shadowbox, scalloped, lattice-top, picket, louver and post-and-rail, with trim and cap options. Board-on-board overlaps pickets; it is not a guarantee against all gaps or natural wood movement.

Metal, Chain-Link, Vinyl and Farm/Ranch Fencing

Longhorn also offers ornamental metal/iron, chain-link, vinyl and farm/ranch fencing where appropriate to the property and purpose.

Compare appearance, access, maintenance, privacy needs and site requirements. Each system has its own scope, installation considerations and applicable written warranty terms; no material is the universal best choice.

Gates and Access

Longhorn provides pedestrian/walk, double, drive/access and powered/automatic gates. Define opening size, framing and supports, hardware, clearance and intended use.

Powered systems require a project-specific scope covering the operator, controls, power/electrical needs, access, manufacturer requirements and specialty work where applicable. An operator or electrical work is not automatically included with every gate.

Posts, Rails and Site Conditions

A fence is more than linear footage and visible pickets. Posts, rails, boards, fasteners, hardware and gate supports work together with grade, soil/site conditions, wind exposure and intended use.

Construction choices remain project-specific. The selected written Proposal/specification controls post material, setting and footing requirements, rails, pickets and fasteners; Longhorn does not apply one universal construction specification to every fence.

Many standard residential fence installations can be completed in approximately 1–3 days. Footage, demolition, design, gates, finishing, weather, access, grade/site conditions, discovered conditions and project complexity affect timing. This is not a completion guarantee or a universal Commercial schedule.

Clear Fencing Pricing and a Written Scope

Longhorn uses an open-book approach for Fencing Proposals. This Fencing-specific transparency helps you understand what is included and compare selections or changes. The written Proposal can separately show:

  • Materials
  • Installation Labor / Services
  • Applicable Direct Project Costs / Fees
  • Longhorn Contractor Profit
  • Options / Upgrades
  • Total Project Price

Actual pricing depends on footage, height, material, style, construction, posts/rails, gates, demolition, access, grade/site conditions, finishing, Commercial requirements and selected options. The written Longhorn Fencing Proposal establishes actual project pricing; there is no universal per-linear-foot price.

Your written scope should identify:

  • Fence sections/runs, selected material/style, height and construction selections.
  • Gates, finishing, removal/disposal and any retained sections or materials.
  • Exclusions, options, price and the written change/additional-work process.

If financing is useful, ask about financing options during your estimate. Eligibility, approval and terms depend on the lender.

Existing Fence Removal and Finishing

Removal/disposal can be included where selected. Define the identified fencing, normal resulting debris, post removal and cleanup in the scope, and identify materials to retain before removal. Extraordinary buried concrete or debris, unrelated cleanup and unexpected site conditions are not automatically included.

Longhorn provides staining, sealing and painting. Selected options may include natural/unstained wood, pre-stained materials or field Clean & Stain, with the product/color and treated surfaces identified. Ready Seal, Smitty's Stain and Sherwin-Williams are selectable products/manufacturers where appropriate; product use is not certification.

Application timing and maintenance depend on the selected product, wood/material condition, moisture, weather, preparation and written scope, not a universal drying or reapplication schedule. Opposite-side treatment on a shared fence is not automatically included. Explore related Painting services for other finishing needs.

Property Lines, Approvals, Utilities and Shared Fences

Confirm the authorized fence location and property boundary, using appropriate survey authority where needed. An existing fence does not establish the legal boundary, and a construction layout is not a boundary survey.

Confirm applicable HOA and permit requirements. Longhorn can provide project specifications and assist with or make HOA submissions where expressly included in writing. Customers remain responsible for required approvals unless the written agreement assigns responsibility differently; approval is not guaranteed.

Longhorn handles applicable 811/public utility-location coordination before excavation. Public locating does not necessarily identify private irrigation, landscape lighting, electrical, gas/service lines, drainage or other underground improvements. Identify known private systems and site conditions before excavation; not every underground condition can be detected.

Neighboring/shared fence projects can be divided into distinct sections, scopes and prices. Longhorn can prepare separately defined work/pricing. The parties remain responsible for ownership, legal boundaries, access authorization, payment and neighbor agreements. An estimate does not establish ownership or authorize entry onto another property.

Residential and Commercial Fencing

Residential projects may focus on privacy, appearance, pets and everyday access. Commercial planning may also involve longer runs, gates/access, material/system selection, staging, property operations, phasing and occupied-property coordination. The selected scope defines the intended function without assuming a security rating or specialty credential.

For storm-related work, Longhorn documents observed construction conditions and prepares its proposed construction scope. The insurer determines coverage under the policy. Storm damage does not automatically establish coverage. Broader property damage may require separately scoped Restoration services.

Longhorn's One-Year Fencing Workmanship Warranty

Longhorn's Fencing Contract provides a one-year workmanship warranty beginning at completion of Longhorn's contracted fencing work, subject to its written terms. Coverage applies to defects caused by Longhorn workmanship on contracted work.

Localized repairs do not warranty the entire pre-existing fence, and Clean & Stain workmanship does not create unrelated structural coverage. Natural material changes and external conditions are distinct from installation defects; exclusions do not excuse defective Longhorn installation. Manufacturer/material warranties are separate and subject to their own terms.

Fencing Questions

Can Longhorn repair or replace only part of my fence?

Yes, where the surrounding structure and compatible materials support that scope. Identify retained and replaced sections clearly; localized work does not renew the entire existing fence.

What affects fence pricing?

Footage, height, material, style, posts, rails, gates, removal, access, grade, finishing and project requirements. The written Longhorn Fencing Proposal establishes the price.

What does Longhorn's open-book Fencing Proposal show?

It can separately show materials, installation labor/services, applicable direct project costs/fees, Longhorn contractor profit, options/upgrades and the total project price so customers can understand the scope and compare selections.

Do posts and rails matter as much as visible pickets?

They are essential parts of the supporting structure. Their condition, material, setting and suitability for the fence and gates should be considered alongside the boards. The selected written specification controls the project.

How are gates handled in the scope?

Identify gate quantity, opening, framing, supports, hardware and clearance separately. Powered/automatic gates require project-specific operator, controls, power/electrical, manufacturer and specialty-work requirements where applicable; these are not automatically included with every gate.

Can Longhorn separate neighboring fence scopes?

Yes. Separate sections, scopes and pricing can be defined. The parties remain responsible for boundary, ownership, access, payment and neighbor agreements.

Does Longhorn handle Commercial fencing?

Yes. Commercial planning considers the selected system, gates/access, staging, property operations and any required phasing or occupied-property coordination.
