Residential Roofing Questions
What should I compare when two replacement Proposals have different prices?
Compare the defined scope: roofing products/system, removal, treatment of decking conditions, underlayment, flashing and penetrations, ventilation, access, cleanup, exclusions and warranty terms. Many Longhorn residential replacements fall approximately within $7,000–$20,000, but that is not a quote or ceiling. The written Proposal establishes your actual price.
Does a 1–2 day replacement estimate mean completion two days after I call?
No. Approximately 1–2 days is the typical installation guidance for standard residential replacements, subject to roof size, complexity, weather and discovered conditions. Inspection, authorization, material preparation and scheduling are separate steps.
Does choosing a GAF shingle give every homeowner the same warranty?
No. Longhorn's 5-year residential replacement workmanship warranty is separate from manufacturer coverage. Manufacturer terms depend on the selected system, installation requirements, eligibility and registration where required. GAF Silver Certified identifies contractor certification, not a uniform warranty for every roof.
Does Class 4 mean my roof cannot suffer hail damage?
No. Class 4 identifies an impact-resistance classification, not a hail-proof guarantee. Compare the specific product and its terms, and ask your insurer whether that product qualifies for a discount rather than assuming one applies.
Does every replacement need the same vents, flashing and decking work?
No. Those decisions depend on the home's roof and attic design, existing conditions and selected system. The Proposal should identify the agreed work and how concealed or deteriorated decking discovered during installation will be handled.
What should I confirm before installation begins?
Confirm the accepted scope and materials, expected schedule, property access, delivery/staging arrangements, property-preparation instructions, cleanup and final-review arrangements, and the process for authorizing additional discovered work. Requirements vary by home and project.
Can Longhorn's storm inspection establish whether insurance pays for replacement?
No. Longhorn documents observed roof conditions and prepares its proposed construction scope. The insurer determines coverage under the policy. Neither a storm nor a roofing Proposal guarantees a covered replacement, and Longhorn does not waive deductibles.
